the things they carried

I really wonder if i was presented with the situation to kill someone, if i could do it. I can shoot a deer and help gut it with only a small amount of squeamishness, but could i kill a human? Maybe if I was going to die or they were going to I could manage it, but i would regret it for the rest of my life. people think that hunting season in barbaric and evil. they say you might as well kill people. these people don't understand the fact that hunting is population control. war is not people population control. hunting and killing a person are two very unrelated topics. i may feel bad for the deer for a second, then i remember all the people who have died in car accident because of them. In the case for our guy in the book, I feel bad. his kill was out of reaction. He is haunted to this day like i would have been.
