It really makes me sad that Tom Robinson got shot.... 17 times! That's a little sick. Ok i can see like once or twice to make sure he didn't escape, but 17. That is a bit beyond what is acceptable. I also feel for his poor wife! She must really be having a time of it. She has all those little kids, and only got a job because of one nice white man. I'm really glad he is helping her out. She needs someone to drive that crazy guy away.

I can really see the segregation coming out in the book now. There aunt makes it clear that there is a better race. She was furious when they wanted to go to Cal's house. Cal is a really nice, and educated dark lady. She is just like any other white person, but she gets a bad wrap because she is black. I was also very surprised that no black people could read. Out of the whole congregation, like 3 could read. That to me is the biggest crime. They can't even get educated.

I feel bad for Scout. She does not want to be a lady, and her aunt is trying to change that. She is always ragging on her to be more lady-like. I was not a girly-girl when i was younger. I still am not very much, but i can be if i really want to. Scout just needs some time. All girls usually hit junior high and then they figure it out. They finally see that being a girl is not so bad. Scout might be a harder case, but i think in time she will be ok.
